Summer Races In Amarillo You Can’t Miss [2017]

Summer is a great time to put all your spring training to the test and to prepare for fall marathons, especially if you can support a great cause in the process.

If you’re ready to run, here are some upcoming races in Amarillo and the surrounding areas you can’t miss.

Texas Panhandle Summer Races

MYRICK 5K RUN & WALK

June 3

Want some motivation for running your heart out? The top runners of each age category for this race will receive an award. If you want to learn more, pick up a race packet on the day of the race at the John Pittman Municipal Golf Course in Hereford, Texas. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. in Hereford.

SUMMER BUMMER 5 MILE RUN

June 15

This evening race, hosted by the Lone Star Runners Club, will be held at Thompson park here in Amarillo. The first 75 entrants will get a free t-shirt. Food and cold drinks will be served after the race. Race begins at 7:00 p.m.

WICKED WINE RUN

June 17

The perfect race for wine-connoisseurs and racers alike, the Wicked Wine Run trails through the scenic neighborhoods of the Bar Z Winery. The 5K begins at 5:30 The top finishers for the 5K will win some awesome prizes. And, if you aren’t a hardcore runner, there’s also a 1K fun walk at 7:00 p.m.

DAVID PHILLIPS MEMORIAL 5K AND 1K FUN RUN

July 4

Support the David Phillips Memorial Charity by participating in this 5K. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. at Main Street in front of the Courthouse in Panhandle, Texas.

5TH ANNUAL MTK MEMORIAL RUN 5K/10K

July 15

Practice for that full marathon with this 10K race. All proceeds go to the MTK Foundation, a local organization that helps support kids with cancer. There’s also a 1 mile fun run (with prizes for the best dressed). The races start at 8:00 a.m. at Paramount Baptist Church.

TWILIGHT 5K RUN

August 11

The Lone Star Runners Club wraps up the summer races with this evening 5K through the Colonies. Register today to get your t-shirt. The race will start at 9:00 p.m. at 45th and Wesley.
